Mw 6.2 Bio-Bio, Chile

On 21 May 1960 a strong earthquake occurred in Bio-Bio, Chile at a depth of 25 km. The seismic event occurred at 13:00:04 UTC and had an estimated moment magnitude (Mw) 6.2.

The earthquake occurred a few hours after a great earthquake occurred in the region, the first in a series of large tremors in the region on the 21st and 22nd, which ended with the largest earthquake ever recorded. For more details, see the report of the first earthquake.
