updated 8 August 2021

On 26 May 1975 a major earthquake occurred at the Azores-Cape St. Vincent Ridge at a depth of 33 km. The seismic event occurred at 09:11:51 UTC and had an estimated moment magnitude (Mw) 7.9.

Two planetary alignments preceded the earthquake, most notably Sun-Mercury-Uranus that coincided with a lunar peak 11 on the index late on the 24th and into the 25th, partly because of a Full Moon.
