Mw 7.0 Flores Sea

On 27 February 2015 a major earthquake occurred at the Flores Sea at a depth of 548km. The seismic event occurred at 13:45:05 UTC and had an estimated moment magnitude (Mw) 7.0.

Three planetary alignments preceded the earthquake, most notably Mercury-Sun-Venus on the 22nd and Earth-Sun-Neptune on the 26th. Lunar geometry was relatively low throughout the week reaching index 8, which it was most of the time in February. Three WPG peaks occurred before the earthquake, two on the 23rd and one from the 25th to the 26th.
