Mw 6.8 New Britain Region, P.N.G.

On 1 May 2015 a strong earthquake occurred at New Britain Region, P.N.G. The seismic event occurred at 08:06:06 UTC and had an estimated moment magnitude (Mw) 6.8.

It was the second strong earthquake in the region in one day and preceded by two WPG peaks the second of which coincided with a planetary alignment early on 1 May. See also the report below.
