Mw 6.6 Near North Coast of Papua, Indonesia

On 24 September 2015 a strong earthquake occurred near the north coast of Papua, Indonesia. The seismic event occurred at 15:53:28 UTC and had an estimated moment magnitude (Mw) 6.6.

Three planetary alignments preceded the earthquake from the 19th to the 24th. Lunar geometry was relatively high (index 12) throughout the week. Three WPG peaks occurred on the 19th and 20th.
