Mw 6.9 Coquimbo, Chile

On 7 November 2015 a strong earthquake occurred in Coquimbo, Chile. The seismic event occurred at 07:31:41 UTC and had an estimated moment magnitude (Mw) 6.9. It is considered an aftershock of the great earthquake on 16 September.

While the earthquake is generally considered an aftershock of the great earthquake (Mw 8.3) on 16 September, four alignments from the 3rd to the 6th preceded the earthquake, while lunar geometry peaked 12 and 10 on the 5th and 6th respectively. A WPG peak occurred on the 3rd, but it was probably less decisive.
