Mw 6.0 Central Califonia
updated 31 July 2021 UTC

On 8 July 2021 a strong earthquake occurred in Central California at a depth of 10 km. The seismic event occurred at 22:49:49 UTC and had an estimated moment magnitude (Mw) 6.0.

Planetary geometry was very critical throughout the first week of July with no less than five alignments up until 8 July. Especially the Venus-Mercury-Neptune alignment on the 7th raised the potential of a large earthquake reaching higher 7 to 8 magnitude. However, the first seismic increase started with two M 6.0 earthquakes offshore Atacama, Chile on the 4th (first increase since 21 June), followed by the strong earthquake in California. Seismic activity eventually peaked magnitude 6.3 on the 10th in the Molucca Sea. Atmospheric electricity was not conclusive at the time.
