Mw 6.3 Molucca Sea

On 10 July 2021 a strong earthquake occurred at the Molucca Sea at a depth of 60 km. The seismic event occurred at 00:43:57 UTC and had an estimated moment magnitude (Mw) 6.3.

Planetary geometry was very critical throughout the first week of July with no less than five alignments up until 8 July. Especially the Venus-Mercury-Neptune alignment on the 7th raised the potential of a large earthquake reaching higher 7 to 8 magnitude. However, the first seismic increase started with two M 6.0 earthquakes offshore Atacama, Chile on the 4th (first increase since 21 June), followed by a strong earthquake in California.
