Mw 7.1 Mindanao, Philippines
updated 12 August 2021

On 11 August 2021 a major earthquake occurred in Mindanao, Philippines at a depth of 58 km. The seismic event occurred at 17:46:14 UTC and had an estimated moment magnitude (Mw) 7.1.

Five planetary alignments preceded the earthquake, starting with Venus-Sun-Uranus on the 7th. Most critical were the alignments on the 10th and early 11th. Warnings were issued as early as the 6th that there was a high probability of large seismic activity, especially from the 10th to the 14th. The earthquake occurred just after lunar geometry peaked 13. Note that the lunar peak occurred after the high planetary peak. An atmospheric peak consistent with a high 6 to 7 magnitude earthquake occurred three days earlier. A second major earthquake occurred a day (!) later in the South Sandwich Islands Region.
