Mw 6.0 South of Fiji Islands

On 21 October 2021 a strong earthquake occurred South of Fiji Islands at a depth of 497 km. The seismic event occurred at 08:10:44 UTC and had an estimated moment magnitude (Mw) 6.0.

The earthquake occurred a day after the Moon lined up with Mars. Because of this geometry, seismic activity up to low 6 magnitude was anticipated. See also the Telegram post below.
