Mw 6.0 Nias Region, Indonesia
updated 9 November 2021

On 1 November 2021 a strong earthquake occurred in Nias Region, Indonesia at a depth of 10 km. The seismic event occurred at 17:04:16 UTC and had an estimated moment magnitude (Mw) 6.0.

Large seismic activity, potentially high 7 to 8 magnitude was anticipated for 28-29 October due to critical planetary geometry, most notably the Sun-Venus-Neptune alignment on the 28th. However, no larger seismic activity occurred, until the strong earthquakes on 1 November, which occurred at the lunar peak of 30 October- 1 November.
