Mw 6.0 North of Halmahera, Indonesia

On 4 December 2021 a strong earthquake occurred North of Halmahera, Indonesia at a depth of 160 km. The seismic event occurred at 23:47:55 UTC and had an estimated moment magnitude (Mw) 6.0.

Due to the Mars-Venus-Uranus alignment late on 1 December, an earthquake warning was in effect for 3-4-5 December. For a depiction of the planetary geometry, see the Telegram post below.
