Mw 7.3 Flores Sea

On 14 December 2021 a major earthquake occurred in the Flores Sea at a depth of 12 km. The seismic event occurred at 03:20:24 UTC and had an estimated moment magnitude (Mw) 7.3.

The earthquake was likely triggered by a combination of lunar geometry involving Mars and Jupiter on 12-13 December and an unusual convergence of 90° angles between Venus and outer planets, becoming exact on the 14th.
