Mw 6.2 Fiji Region

On 27 January 2022 a strong earthquake occurred in Fiji Region at a depth of 10 km. The seismic event occurred at 06:40:06 UTC and had an estimated moment magnitude (Mw) 6.2.

Major seismic activity was anticipated as a worst-case-scenario due to a very strong quadruple alignment (all four alignments within one-and-a-half-hour) with Mercury, Venus, the Sun and Saturn. Most critical were considered the days following the alignment (25-28 January).
